What a busy week it's been. Rushing work, including next week's tutorials and readings for two reasons:
1. I'm leaving tmr (today) for the Gold Coast; our sub-district Getaway.
2. Next week is the Public Law 50% exam (which I am absolutely CLUELESS about) and I need that crucial time to study for it.
Seems like the more work I get done, the more appears to the pile.
The life of a law student is meaningless!!! I'll add a verse to Ecclesiastes if God wouldn't strike me down! Ecc00:00 'Meaningless! Meaningless! The law student spends his days with statutes and judgments written by the hands of man. He worries himself and his labour is fruitless. What can such toil lead to? Is not an expert in the law subject to the law? Will he not be judged according to his ways and condemned for his transgressions? He judges others, but himself is judged. This too is meaningless.' (Note, this would have been before salvation anyway).
Do Not Give The Devil A Foothold
Sth I learned somewhere (this is really fragmented): All lies are based on little truths. They distort the truth and take it out of context, thus leading the recipient astray. Satan leads us astray with lies as such. With Eve, he told her a half-truth, which was that she could eat of ANY tree in the garden, but he didn't include the other half of God's command not to eat of the fruit of knowledge of good and evil.
Satan also tries to lead us astray by convincing us that one sin is better than another. For example: 'Heroin is really addictive and harmful; marijuana isn't addictive but you can still get the feeling of floating on air and ecstasy when you use it; therefore, it's OK to smoke marijuana!'
One weapon of the devil is our Pride. Pride can actually shadow out some simpler vices. A school boy may be well-behaved, thinking he is being self-respectful, when it is actually his pride that makes him want to appear better-behaved than his classmates and to earn praises from his teachers. A Christian may appear to be well-mannered, say elaborate prayers and seem like he worships from his heart; when he really does it to gain trust and recognition in the ministry.
Let us continue to be on our guard then (1Cor16:13 'Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.') and not let Satan have any victory (Eph4:27'and do not give the devil a foothold' Zhangs, this is for you.)
Something to thank God for: My father has bought the lens for me, and if all goes well it is currently on SQ235 with Keith's little sister and I shall receive it in 8 hours' time.
Next post (as time determines): Forgiving yourself
To Jon, Andrea, Clara, Zhangs: All the best for the prelims, they're no kick! (because A levels are more crucial heh)
